Spider-Man: Brand New Day was released from theaters to people’s homes, and the reaction was also very loud. On October 6, the movie was released as VOD, and within hours of its release, Spider-Man: brand New Day was number one on the Apple TV store in the U.S. Whether you missed it in theaters or want to watch it again, we have some updates about where things are at and what will happen in the near future.
Quick Refresh On Peter Parker
In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker became an unmemorable hero when Peter asked Doctor Strange to erase his memories for everyone in the world, even those who mattered most to him.
This decision has shaped every event that has followed, and brand New Day will be the first individual movie to explore how Peter is coping with the consequences of that choice. The story occurs four years after the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now living on his own, trying to balance his new role as a superhero while also experiencing some changes to his abilities.
The Phase 6 end point is also coming into focus. Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters in December, and the team of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will once again assemble. However, throughout most of the summer, the attention was directed toward the web-slinger, as his highly anticipated return to theaters was completed after many years in development.
Streaming Success Follow Up By A Box Office Hit
The film was a massive success financially. According to reports, the film’s worldwide gross was approximately $2.5 billion. It made approximately $950.6 million in the United States and Canada alone. As such, the film has become the most successful film domestically (U.S.) in terms of box office revenue, as well as the largest film of 2026. One report also suggests that the film ranks as one of the most successful films in cinematic history.
The movie has already become the most-watched film in the U.S. Apple TV store, and it is performing well globally. It was the top-performing movie in Italy, Costa Rica, Japan, South Africa, Bolivia, Spain, Ghana, Ukraine, the Dominican Republic, Peru, Egypt, Germany, the Netherlands, El Salvador, and England.

How To Watch At Home
The rental and purchase window opened on October 6, with pre-orders on services such as Fandango and Prime Video listed at $29.99. That price is steep compared with a typical digital rental, but it matches the cost of a movie ticket and a drink, which seems to be Sony’s pitch.
On December 15, the 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD releases will be released. This is only a few days prior to Avengers: Doomsday hitting the big screen. For those who enjoy owning their movies, this is an excellent opportunity to purchase another title for your movie library.

One of the elements missing from the film was deleted scenes. This absence created some speculation as to whether the studio will use these deleted scenes during its upcoming re-release in theaters.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Re-Release
This brings us to a development that I think will be very interesting. Marvel and Sony are planning to re-release the film in theaters with extra scenes not included in the original theatrical version. This strategy has proven successful for Marvel with the re-release of Avengers: Endgame.
The possible restoration of Claire Temple (played by Rosario Dawson) would add another Marvel-Netflix veteran to the cast, after the recent return of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle in his first major motion picture. There is currently no official word on whether or not Claire will appear in the film. However, as of now, this is a hope-for rumor.
In terms of when the extended cut will be released, according to one source, if Sony sticks with the same timeline as the previous Spider-Man film, then fans will most likely have to wait until at least mid 2027 to see the extended cut. This gives fans ample opportunity to view the original cut on their own prior to viewing the extended cut.
